Tēnā koutou,

Herenga ā Nuku Aotearoa, the Outdoor Access Commission, warmly invites you to our Trailmakers online hui on Thursday, 15 May starting at noon.

Topic: Protecting a trail into the future – legal considerations for trail groups

Janeen Wood will share the Southern Lakes Trails Trust's (www.southernlakestrails.nz) experiences in securing legal trail access. We will discuss the benefits of creating enduring legal access and why it is important.

Janeen volunteered as a trustee when the original Lower Lake Dunstan Trails Trust was formed, and she has played a crucial role in managing the region’s trail projects ever since. Her various voluntary roles facilitated a community collaboration, leading to the formation of the Central Otago Queenstown Trail Network Trust in 2016, which developed the highly successful Lake Dunstan Trail.

Currently, Janeen is the Trail Manager for the Lake Dunstan Trail and the Chief Executive of the rebranded Southern Lakes Trails Trust. She oversees the Kawarau Gorge Trail and Wānaka Link projects.

This session will be an interactive session – we welcome people to share your local experiences and ask questions.

Please pass on this invite to those who might be interested.

Hei konā mai,

Bernice Prakash
